Canon EOS 1100D
The Canon EOS 1100D (known as Canon EOS Rebel T3 in North America, and Canon EOS Kiss X50 in Japan) was originally launched early in 2011. It has an APS-C sensor with 12.2 megapixels, and Canon's DIGIC IV image processing chip.
This is my third Canon DSLR camera that I bought pre-owned in order to have a camera for each of my two scopes so that I could set up both at the same time. I felt that I needed this one because the Canon 350D was sufficiently old that Canon had ceased support for it and there were no drivers available for 64 bit Windows systems, making it impossible to control it from a computer without compromising all of the other settings.
I have managed to capture some nice images with this camera, but it does display a strange effect of dark vertical lines beneath any bright stars that are captured. A number of internet searches have indicated that this is a reasonably widespread phenomenon for this particular camera. The effect can be processed out to some extent, but it does add a lot of time and effort.
